IPL 2025 Playoffs Back on Track – Final Set for 3 June in Revised Schedule

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has formally re-started IPL 2025 after a one-week security suspension. Seventeen league matches will resume from 17 May, while the knockout phase will now run 29 May – 3 June. Extra buffer days replace several double-headers to ease player workload in the summer heat.

Playoff Qualification Picture (after 11–12 matches each)
- Gujarat Titans (GT) – 16 pts (11) – need 1 win to seal top-two berth.
- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – 16 pts (11) – separated from GT on NRR.
- Punjab Kings (PBKS) – 15 pts (11) – closing on qualification.
- Mumbai Indians (MI) – 14 pts (12) – likely need 2 wins from 2.
- Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants still in the hunt; SRH, RR, CSK eliminated.
Key Squad Updates
Player availability is a major theme of the extended season:
- South Africa’s Test contingent (e.g., Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen) must return home by 26 May.
- England players (Jos Buttler, Will Jacks) expected to exit before playoffs for national duty.
- Replacements approved by BCCI:
- Mayank Agarwal joins RCB for injured Devdutt Padikkal.
- Sediqullah Atal joins Delhi Capitals for Harry Brook (withdrawn).
